Service Committee

Tau Beta Sigma is a service organization. We are responsible for helping the marching band in any way we can. The service committee is in charge of making sure we do all that we can. During the marching season, Delta Epsilon provides apples during football games, freeze-pops during band camp, as well as setting up and maintaing the yard markers for practice.  It has also become the chapter's responsibility to distribute the annual band season DVDs to all band members.  Other minor tasks that the band director asks of us are also taken care of as quickly as possible..

During second semester when there is no marching band for us to service, we focus on other more community-oriented activities such as volunteering at a local animal shelter. While we are there we walk the dogs and play with the cats so that they get a little more attention than they would get on a normal basis. Another project that we take on with the brothers of Kappa Kappa Psi is highway cleanup.  This is done during the entire school year and significantly helps remove the amount of trash along our 2-mile stretch of highway on the north side of Oxford.

Since the beginning, service has come first for Tau Beta Sigma and within our own chapter we strive to bring the ideals given to us into light as much as possible.  While the marching band could survive without Tau Beta Sigma and Kappa Kappa Psi, we feel that together not only can more be accomplished, but also we can maintain a higher level of excellence in our band program.
