Fundraising Committee

Within every organization there is a need for money, and unfortunately money doesn't grow on trees. The fundraising committee is responsible for coming up with the money to pay for services within the band, and certain things associated with the School of Music. Past fundraising events have included bake sales, raffles, advertising for Cold Stone Creamery and volunteering at the Lilly Teachers Conference which is held annually here at Miami.

The biggest fundraiser that the chapter participates in is the marketing and distributing of care packages to all of the freshmen on campus. In August, parents of incoming freshmen students receive flyers about purchasing care packages for their students. The parents send their orders in and we take care of assembling and distributing the packages to the freshmen. Distribution takes place within the month of September. The year-long fundraiser that we do is recycling ink cartridges. Teamed up with the university, Tau Beta Sigma has distributed recycling boxes in all of the dorms, the student union as well as the rec center. Every month we go around and collect all of the ink cartridges that people have dropped off. This is a great fundraiser that takes little effort in the long run.
